Beyond lotions and potions lies a pot of gold

In the world of healthcare, when you talk about skin health, the cosmetic industry is often the first thing that comes to some people's mind. But in the world of sick care, it is ghastly skin diseases that come to mind. For experts, however, neither one image nor the other is right. Skin is the largest organ and has many functions, it interacts literally with everything that surrounds us and with every other organ in the body. As we learn more about genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and the microbiome, the more relevant the skin's role becomes for our overall health and wellbeing.

And the world is conspiring to make the role of "the skin" even more relevant: social media is leveraging people's images to levels never seen before, the skin is the shield to external insults such as viruses, bacteria and pollutants, the ageing demographics will increase demand for 'skin solutions' and digital technology is helping decode symptoms and even predict or prevent the onset of undesired course of disease or appearance.

It is time to invest in the creation of true value for people and investors through healthcare solutions.
